Skukuza Cattle Baron

Location: inside Kruger Park in Skukuza Rest Camp

Choosing restaurants in Kruger National Park is cheating a little, but who can beat a Sabie Riverside view in the middle of Kruger?

Eat on the terrace which offers plunging views into the river and the historic railway bridge here, the new Kruger Shalati “The Train on the Bridge”. One of the few places in Mpumalanga which gets steak tartar (nearly) right.

If you are rushing, grab and go from their takeaway.

While you are here, grab a delicious ice cream or milkshake from their milkshake bar. Might be the best milkshake in Mpumalanga?

Komatipoort Golf Club Restaurant

Location: inside Kambaku Golf Club in Komatipoort.

Overlooking the Crocodile River at its confluence with the Komati the view here might actually be better than in Skukuza! We returned in 2026 and found a complete turnaround compared to our last visit. Their grilled meats were absolutely delicious, service fast and friendly, and a lovely peaceful vibe.

The Crocodile River was in full flood when we visited last in January 2026.

Chubby Pig

Location: just off the R532 on the Panorama Route, around Bourke’s Luck Potholes

The Chubby Pig is our favourite place to eat on the Panorama Route offering a good balance between food quality and a lovely closeup view of the Treur River before it joins the Blyde River. Chubby Pig has become quite popular in the last years and can be busy at peak hours. A much better place to eat than Bourke’s Luck Potholes.

Divine Foods with a View

Location: inside Panorama Chalets in Graskop. Just off the R533 Hazyview Road & 400m from Graskop Lift.

Homely food with a view reminiscent of God’s Window. The restaurant is located in the Panorama Chalets Resort close to its swimming pool, so expect some ambience depending on how busy it is. Nice place to stop for a cocktail with a view.
