Who we are

ilanda Guest House is operated by RIXA Trading CC (“we”, “us”), 66 The Oaks Road, White River 1240, Mpumalanga, South Africa.

We are the responsible party for your personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). Our Information Officer is N Mabunda, contactable at info@ilandaguesthouse.co.za.

What we collect

• Contact and booking details you give us by WhatsApp, phone, email, our enquiry form or our online booking system: your name, phone number, email address, company (for business bookings), stay dates, number of guests and any special requests.

• Booking and payment information processed through our booking system (NightsBridge) and its payment providers. We do not store card details ourselves.

• Website usage information collected through cookies and similar technologies, such as pages visited, device type, approximate location and how you arrived at our site (for example, from a Google, Facebook or Instagram ad, including an advertising click reference).

Why we use it

• To answer your enquiries and manage your booking and stay.

• To meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.

• To understand how visitors use our website and to measure and improve our advertising. For example, we may match a booking to the online ad that led to it. To do this we may send Meta (Facebook and Instagram) the value of a booking together with your phone number and email address in hashed (scrambled) form; Meta uses this only to check whether you saw or clicked one of our ads.

We only use your information for these purposes, based on your consent, the need to perform our booking contract with you, our legitimate business interests, or a legal obligation.

Who we share it with

We share information only with service providers that help us run our business: our booking system (NightsBridge), payment providers, and Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads) and Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram, including the Meta Pixel) for website measurement and advertising. Where a booking includes rooms at our sister property Halleria Self Catering (also operated by RIXA Trading CC), the booking details are shared with Halleria. We may also share information where the law requires it. We never sell your personal information.

Information sent outside South Africa

Some of our service providers, such as Google and Meta, store data outside South Africa. We only use providers that protect personal information to a standard comparable to POPIA.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies, including Google and Meta Pixel cookies, for analytics and advertising measurement. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

How long we keep it

We keep booking records for as long as tax and accounting law requires (usually five years). Enquiries that don’t lead to a booking are deleted within 12 months.

How we protect it

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to keep your information secure and limit access to staff who need it.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to its use for marketing or advertising measurement. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your information, you may lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (www.inforegulator.org.za).
