Arrival and Departure Times

Check in time is from 2 pm until 8pm.

Late arrivals are possible with advance notice only for confirmed bookings (deposit paid).

 

Check out time is 10 am. You can check-out anytime before then by using our drop keybox.

 

Airport Transfers

We do not offer airport transfer but can put you in contact with local transport providers.

Braais (BBQ)

Braai (BBQ / Barbecue) facilities are available at each self catering unit and by our two swimming pools.

If you need a braai stand and cannot find one, please let us know and we will assist you.

Self catering units have all the crockery and cutlery available.

Our other units have the basics (plates, forks, knives and tongs) to be able braai in the round plastic container on the microwave or in the cupboard.

 

Breakfast

Please note due to COVID 19 we are currently only offering breakfast packs (R100 per person) to be eaten on the go or in your room, as our breakfast lounge & kitchen are too small to properly implement social distancing measures.

 

Our breakfast pack includes: sandwich (egg mayo, salami or ham*), yogurt, energy bar or muffin*, apple, banana, and fruit juice. (* = depending on availability).

 

If you prefer a sit-down breakfast several options are available in White River CBD (Wimpy), White River Crossing (Mugg & Bean), Casterbridge Lifestyle Centre and local "Farm" options (The Plantsman).

 

Car Wash

We do not offer in house car wash.

Conserving water

Help us conserve water.

 

Linen: will be changed every 4 days for guests staying longer.

Towels: towels on the floor will be changed. Towels on the rack won't.

Tea & Coffee

All rooms have tea and coffee included.

Dam & Fishing

We have a private dam on the property, about 400m from the main accommodation.

 

Though we don’t actively stock fish, Bass and Kurper are present and can be caught (catch and release only).

Please bring your own gear, tackle and bait.

 

Grass and reeds are cut back in 4 different areas for access to the water.

There is a cabin on stilts for those wishing to sit and relax or enjoy the birdlife at the dam.

Duiker, Marsh Mongoose, Cane Rat are present. Otters are only occasionally seen by a lucky few.

 

In the grassland between the accommodation and dam you’ll find our Dwarf Mongoose family, Scrub Hare but also the occasional porcupine, Genet, Civet and Polecat.

 

The gate to the veld & dam is open from 0730 to 1630 but for early risers we can give you the code for the lock. If you plan on staying late, send us a WhatsApp and we’ll keep the gate open for you.

 

Access by walking or by car. In summer please park in front of red & white chain link fence, as the ground can get wet and slippery with summer rains (cars have been stuck by the cabin in the past)

 

Day visits

We currently do not accept day visitors. We have plans for a day visitor offer in the near future.

 

Dinner

Please see our eating out page for dinner options in town.

 

For corporate guests we can propose a dinner allowance to be spent in restaurants in town or delivery to the guest house.

 

We otherwise do not regularly serve dinner except for certain group bookings. Enquire at the time of booking.

 

Energy Saving

Please help us save energy. When leaving your room please switch of appliances (especially the aircon).

Emergency or Fire

In case of fire or emergency please inform management immediately.

Proceed to the safety meeting point - swimming pool A (by the facebrick building).

 

Front Gate

The main gate is operated by remote. To exit the property please drive close to the gate.

 

On check-out: leave the key in your room and drive close to the gate.

 

Trucks: The free exit sensor does not work with bigger trucks. Please use your remote to open the gate and leave remote in key box.

 

Guest visitors

No guest visitors visitors are allowed without prior authorisation from management.

 

If an additional person will be staying over for one or more nights of your stay – please inform us and the room rate will be adjusted accordingly as our room rates depend on the number of guests.

 

Groups

Groups are welcome and facilites work well for groups especially our 4 bedroom apartment and family units.

 

As groups can be noisy, please be considerate to the peace other guests: 2100 is our quiet time - please be mindful around other rooms and guests (no loud noises or shouting).

 

No loud music at any time of the day. Soft music is okay. Please see "Music" below.

 

Please contact us for group enquiries and we'll advise you on the best combination of rooms.

 

House Keeping

All rooms and units are serviced daily. For guests staying more than 4 days, linen will be changed every 4 days.

 

Iron & Ironing Board

All our rooms and units have an iron and ironing board.

 

Laundry

Laundry service is available subject to availability. We charge R100 per load. Please allow 24h from collection.

We take no responsibility should clothes be damaged.

Loadshedding

You can keep up to date with loadshedding times on Eskom Se Push App - suburb is "White River outlying (16)". (Load shedding usually ends 30 min earler than scheduled)

 

- We do not have generator, there will be no power at the guest house (gate is battery powered, so access is guaranteed)

- Water pressure will be low as our booster pump will not be powered but only gravity fed.

- There is power in town when we are loadshedding.

 

Lost & Found

We will inform you of any items left behind. You can collect or have it courrier at your cost.

We do not accept liability for the loss of any property from the rooms or vehicles.

Please do not leave any valuables in your room or in your car.

 
 

Music

No loud music at any time of the day.

 

We specifically do not allow:

- Amplifiers / boom boxes

- Car music.

 

When at the gate & entering property, please keep car music level down.

Soft music is okay. What is "too loud" is exclusively at the discretion of management.

Parking

All unit have space available for parking in front of the room, either in the lawn or paving.

 

Parking for trucks: We have plenty of safe parking space available even for large trucks or commercial vehicles. On check-in we will show you where to park.

 

Power

Occasionally there may be a power cut or tripping due to thunderstorm.

 

Please advise promptly if power has tripped so we can restore it promptly.

 

Pets

Unfortunately pets are not allowed.

 

Quiet hours

Quiet hours are from 2100, we ask that: All music is turned off.

Noise levels be kept to a minimum.

Please consider the other guests around you.

 

Reception / Office

We do not have a formal reception. For assistance, please contact us on 082 560 50 73 or the Duty Number listed in your room and we'll come assist you at your unit.

 

Our reservations office hours are 0730 to 2000.

 

After hours we are available for emergencies only to our in house guests on 082 560 50 73.

Make sure to provide us your phone number so we can register you as in house guest.

 

Security

ilanda Guest House is secured with eletric fencing, CCTV cameras and 24 hour rapid response.

Owners & staff also live in other buildings on the property. Nonetheless please take common sense security precautions.

 

Soap & Shampoo

Each bathroom has dispensers for Body Wash, Shampoo and Lotion.

 

We have stopped using disposable bottles as part of our sustainability / greening initiatives.

 

Smoking

No smoking in any room or building.

You are welcome to smoke on your patio and in designated areas.

Kindly throw your cigarette butts in provided ashtrays and not in flower beds & pots.

 

Swimming Pool

We have two swimming pools. Both are free of charge for our guests sleeping over.

 

Keep children must be under the supervision of an adult. 

Swimming is at your own risk – there is no lifeguard available.

No bottles or glass in the pool (in the Lapa is fine).

Please no swimming when the pool cleaning robot is in the pool. Use the other swimming pool in the meantime.

 

Tourist Information

Water

All our water is from boreholes and is drinkable.

 

We have stopped using disposable water bottles as part of our sustainability / greening initiatives. We will soon be offering an alternative solution.

 

WiFi - Internet

Free uncapped WiFi is available to all guests in guest rooms and public areas.

 

The WiFi password is displayed in your room on the information frame on the wall.

 

The WiFi name is ilanda-FreeWiFi.
