Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil is a lovely waterfall slightly off the main road. A short walk through indigenous bush leads you to the towering fall. The site is a spiritual place, and you'll often see people standing under the spray, praying or meditating.

You can also access the Loerie Trail from Bridal Veil Falls. You can do a 6.5 km loop from Bridal Veil to the top of the escarpment and back on the other side. To start the Loerie Trail Loop, turn right on the Bridal Veil Trail just before arriving at the waterfall. If you are pressed for time, doing a short section of the trail and then backtracking is also worthwhile. Keep your eyes peeled for forest bird species like the African Olive Pigeon, White-starred Robin, Orange Ground Thrush, Knysna Turaco, and Blue-mantled Crested Flycatcher.

Opening times are from 08:00 to 17:00, and the site parking is closed outside these hours.

The access road from the centre of Sabie until the York Timber Mill is deeply potholed. The road section after the Mill i into the Celyon Statoin s in much better condition.

From the carpark a trail leads into a patch of indigenous forest for about 750m.

On our last visits the Curio stands were empty.

Bridal Veil is on SAFCOL's Ceylon plantation.

At the Ceylon Station you'll also find the start of the Fanie Botha Hiking Trail (5 days!) and Cooper's Creek Horseriding. The measnering Sabie river also hosts the fishing grounds of the Sabie Flyfishing Club.
