Chrissiesmeer Protected Environment

Chrissiesmeer Protected Environment is located in Mpumalanga and encompasses the Chrissiesmeer lake district, one of the largest natural wetland systems in South Africa. The area includes hundreds of pans and wetlands that are critically important for waterbirds, including several threatened and migratory species. The landscape is dominated by Highveld grasslands and is recognised as an Important Bird Area. Conservation efforts focus on protecting wetland ecosystems within a working agricultural landscape.
