FISHING AT AND AROUND ILANDA GUEST HOUSE

FISHIN ON SITE

We have a small dam on the property about 400m from the main accommodation.

Though we don’t actively stock fish, Bass and Kurper are present and can be caught (catch and release only). Please bring your own gear, tackle and bait.

Grass and reeds are cut back in 4 different areas for access to the water. There is a cabin on stilts for those wishing to sit and relax or enjoy the birdlife at the dam. Duiker, Marsh Mongoose, Cane Rat are present. Otters are only occasionally seen by a lucky few.

In the grassland between the accommodation and dam you’ll find our Dwarf Mongoose family, Scrub Hare but also the occasional porcupine, Genet, Civet and Polecat.

The gate to the veld & dam is open from 0730 to 1630 but for early risers we give you the code for the lock. If you plan on staying late, send us a WhatsApp and we’ll keep the gate open for you. Access by walking or by car. In summer please park in front of red & white chain link fence, as the ground can get wet and slippery with summer rains (cars have been stuck by the cabin in the past)
