Songimvelo Game Reserve

Mpumalanga

Songimvelo Game Reserve is Mpumalanga’s largest provincial reserve, covering roughly 48,000–49,000 hectares on the southern Drakensberg escarpment. It forms part of the Songimvelo–Malolotja Transfrontier Conservation Area and protects exceptionally high plant diversity, rare geologies and the last wild population of the woolly cycad. The reserve offers rugged mountain scenery, important rivers and supports a wide range of mammals and birds, making it a key conservation and ecotourism site.
